Feb. 26-March 1 Residency and Performance @ Metamora, IL Wind Ensemble
For four days, I will be involved in rehearsals, clinics and a final performance of my concerto for berimbau, wind ensemble and chorus, Vou me embora. Truly looking forward to working with everyone in the ensemble and in the community!
March 5 George Crumb @ the Music Institute of Chicago
As part of Abe Stokman's innovative annual new music festival, Four Score, I will be involved in the Chicago premiere of the large scale work for solo soprano, amplified piano and four percussionists, A Journey Beyond Time. See the MIC website for details!
March 9 and 10 Due East @ the Western Illinois University New Music Festival
Due East has commissioned and will premiere a brand new work by festival organizer and composer, James Romig.

April 18 Due East @ SEAMUS

May 4 Theatrical Production @ The Flea, NYC
Collaborative Project with New York composer, Akemi Naito, on a Japanese novel and film, "Woman in the Dunes."
June 4 - 14 Ojai Festival with Eighth Blackbird
I'm looking forward to being one of a number of percussionists from around the country who are convening to perform great works with this excellent new music ensemble. Music for 18 Musicians, Rain Tree and many other fine percussion works are on this multi-day festival at California's Ojai.

January 24 Illinois State PAS Chapter Day of Percussion
On Saturday, January 24, 2009, I will play host to the Illinois PAS Day of Percussion @ the NIU School of Music. Guest performers and clinicians will include: She-e Wu, Aiyun Huang, Vadim Karpinos and Sō Percussion. Don't miss this incredible event!

December 6 and 7 Due East premieres new concerto
New York up-and-coming avant-garde composer, Alex Mincek, is writing a new concerto for Due East that will be premiered at Bargemusic with the excellent NYC-based string orchestra, The Knights.

March 29 DUE EAST in NYC for NYU Composer's Collective
We will perform a program of brand new works by the NYU Graduate Composer's collective, First Performance. This concert will be held at the Tenri Cultural Institute, at 8PM.
April 5 World Premiere Performance of Alexis Bacon's Cowboy Song
A new work for solo percussionist and tape by the very talented electroacoustic music composer, Alexis Bacon. Alexis won the SEAMUS prize, and this performance will be held at this year's SEAMUS festival in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah.

November 30 Piano/Percussion Duo of Brazilian Music in Saarbrucken, Germany.
I am teaming up with my dear friend, Brazilian composer Alexandre Lunsqui and a Brazilian pianist, Rei Nakamura, to give recitals of all contemporary music by Brazilian composers. We will work in Freiburg, Saarbrucken, and Luxembourg.
December 2 Brazilian Music Duo Concert in Luxembourg

August 13th DUE EAST @ UNESP in São Paulo, Brazil.
DUE EAST will perform a recital and give workshops for percussion and flute at the State University of São Paulo, hosted by Carlos Stasi.
August 8-10 DUE EAST Residency in Campinas, Brazil @ UNICAMP.
DUE EAST will give a recital, percussion and flute masterclasses, two composer workshops at the University of Campinas.
May 20th, DUE EAST w/ Composer's Concordance, NYC
DUE EAST will premiere a new work written for the duo by New York composer, Patrick Hardish. Hardish is one of the founding members of the NYC composer collective, Composer's Concordance.
May 15th, DUE EAST @ Princeton University
DUE EAST will perform John Supko's Littoral at Princeton University. Supko, a current doctoral student at Princeton, wrote the work for DUE EAST. The piece includes surround-sound audio and deals with themes and texts about the ocean and its part in human travels and dramas.
April 9th, DUE EAST @ NIU
DUE EAST will head to Northern Illinois University to perform a full recital of music specifically written for the duo. 8PM Free Admission
April 11th, Doug Perkins, solo recital @ NIU
Doug Perkins comes to NIU for a short-term residency, April 9-11. On the evening of the 11th, Perkins will a play a solo recital, including Takemitsu's Rain Tree, accompanied by Matthew Duvall and myself.
April 7th, Takemitsu's Rain Tree @ University of Chicago
I will team up with percussionists Matthew Duvall and Doug Perkins for an exciting performance of Takemitsu's Rain Tree.
March 24th, DUE EAST @ Tenri Cultural Institute
DUE EAST gives full recital at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City. Three of the four works on the program were written expressly for DUE EAST, by Lunsqui, Soper, Harchanko and Supko.
March 10 DUE EAST @ Lewis and Clark
An evening performance of works by Lunsqui, Harchanko, Soper and Supko. Evans Auditorium, 7:30PM.
March 8-9 DUE EAST @ Western Oregon University
Two-day residency at WOU, performing music by WOU composer, Joseph Harchanko. Activities will also include masterclasses and student composer readings.
March 6th, DUE EAST @ Southern Oregon University
DUE EAST performs the music of Joe Harchanko, Alexandre Lunsqui, Kate Soper and John Supko.

Erin and I have been invited to participate in this summer's Yellow Barn Festival. We'll be working on new repertoire for the duo in addition to exciting collaborations with other musicians!

April 29th Solo Berimbau @ Princeton University
I'm looking forward to premiering a new work by Oscar Bettison for the berimbau that promises to involve a pre-recorded berimbau choir controlled in MAX/MSP.
April 17th NIU Latin Jazz Ensemble
This concert will feature original compositions and arrangements from both Brazilian and Cuban popular genres. We will once again be joined by guest artist, N. Scott Robinson.
April 16 NIU Percussion Ensemble
This concert will feature a variety of percussive world musics, including a newly commissioned work for berimbau ensemble by Chicago-based composer, D. Bayne. This concert also features guest percussion artist, N. Scott Robinson.
