I keep a Salvidor Dalí quote on my office door, “Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing.” It reflected his desire to study the language of the masters by way of developing his own voice.
In my own tune smithing and concert composing over many years, I have drawn and continue to draw inspiration from musical voices that have moved me: John Coltrane, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Steve Reich, Gerard Grisey, Iannis Xenakis, Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, and J.S. Bach.
I invite you to explore some of my compositions for percussion ensemble, marimba arrangements of guitar music, and many works for Arcomusical.
